Why on earth do we need a tabletop PC?

That was the question my teenage boy threw back at me. He thought it was one of the stupidest tech things he had heard in a while. See story.
Hmmm. Either Microsoft is going entirely against the grain or they are creating a clunker. My bet is the latter. I can’t see it either. If its not intuitive, its not going to sell.

If you have to explain it what it does, or provide documentation, its not going to sell.

So what do they say to the world — Surface computing. Ok, that makes about as much sense as clicking the start button to shutdown a PC. The reference to recognizing the many different touches is entirely hysterical. What do they imagine – making this a computerized Ouiji board?

Sorry. I am going out early and saying this is really stupid. Its nothing more than a gloriified and very expensive kiosk.
