This cannot be true! Google search stinks in Gmail

It amazes me that smart companies do such stupid things. Google is known for its search engine technology and have mastered the art of delivering accuracy despite the lack of specificity of the user.

So it is truly mind altering to finally figure out in Gmail that there is no wildcard nor fuzzy logic search in their search facility. If you have the word ‘tasks’ anywhere in your text and you type in ‘task’, Gmail will not find it!!! You cannot type in task* or task? or any type of wildcard that all of us have been using for years.

Instead, according to their help, you must type in ‘task tasks tasked’ whatever in order to find how you keyed it in.

Can any feature be more irritating? I have not had to put in that level of effort since DOS days before DOS search crossed folders.
